The 5G network is a fifth generation cellular network that offers higher internet speeds than the previous generation, namely 4G. 5G networks promise speeds that can make mobile internet on par with Wi-Fi. Technologically, this network is an evolution of our current cellular technology.
Difference 4G and 5G
Launching the High Speed Internet website, 4G networks are the fourth generation of wireless technology by using radio towers to provide telephone and wireless internet services to mobile devices, offering higher speeds. While 5G networks are built on top of 4G wireless networks, 5G also brings new technologies and a wider range of radio frequencies. 5G towers and transmitters use more antennas and higher frequency radio bands resulting in faster speeds and response times
In terms of capacity, in more densely populated locations, 5G is ten times faster than 4G, achieving average speeds of nearly 500 Mbps. That’s a huge difference compared to 4G which is around 30 Mbps. Under normal conditions, 4G has a maximum speed of up to 100 Mbps, while 5G reaches 10 Gbps.
Given its availability, 4G networks are available pretty much everywhere – except for remote areas and rural communities with limited cellular access – while 5G coverage is currently limited in cities and towns.
